Organic/Bio Lower ABV Much of the large Morgeot 1er Cru wants to give heavy white wine (probably because much more of it than is should be planted to Pinot rather than Chardonnay). But Sebastien Caillat has always found the elegance and purity in Morgeot by taking advantage of three parcels with good limestone content and ripening his fruit slowly and to moderate alcohols and then keeping the new wood at a modest 15%. Yes, there's real richness here but also stunning minerality and vibrancy. Hard to resist now but will improve for 15 years.
"Petits Clos, Fairendes and Champ Jeandreau. Clear pale colour. Not much nose to begin with but a feel that there is plenty to follow. Some ripe white apples. This is notably more complete than the other Chassagne-Montrachet 1ers Crus and really kicks on, offering perfectly judged ripeness and acidity, concentration without sucrosity."
