A lovely, elegant, take on Dundee Hills Pinot, one that shows plenty of Jory-soil dark fruit and earth/smoke character with uncommon freshness, transparency and lift. Plenty of fruit and richness and a nice burst of spice and grip on the mouthwatering finish.
"Winemaker Tom Fitzpatrick now has three AVA-specific Pinots, this one from a 1998 planting originally owned by Gary Andrus. Refined and elegant, it's firmly anchored in mixed red fruits, with pretty floral overtones and highlights of sweet tobacco and black tea. Eleven months in one-third new French oak adds a chocolaty note to the finish."
"Powerful, mineral-accented black raspberry and cherry aromas, along with hints of candied rose, allspice and musky sassafras. Intense red and dark berry and bitter cherry flavors show very good depth and a bracing spine of juicy acidity. Youthfully firm tannins frame a very long, floral-accented finish that leaves sweet red fruit and floral pastille notes behind."
