Where “vintage” ports spend just 18 months or so in cask before bottling, Colheita wines stay in cask until ready to bottle and drink.  Here 15 years in oak has soften tannins and added nutty notes without muting the big black and red fruit you’d expect from a vintage wine. Long, chewy, and ready to go.
