Organic/Bio If you just looked at the vineyard this wine grows in, you'd think you were in Chateauneuf. Although further south, the land is nearly covered in the small and large (think half a foot in diameter) gallet that make CdP so famous. The stones heat up during the day and radiate warmth at night, making this a great site for both Grenache and Mourvedre (this is a 50/50 blend), and the olive trees and wild herbs that dot the land suggest what you'll find in the wine. Since Mourvedre ripens at lower alcohol than Grenache, this has a wonderfully juicy, fresh, feel to match the deeply rich red and black fruit. And the layers of earth and garrigue aromas and flavors take it far beyond the norm for Cotes du Rhone. Drinkable and delicious.
