The critics’ reviews give you a pretty good idea of what to expect from the 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from parts of three rows of Eagle Crest Vineyard at 2,000 feet elevation on Howell Mountain.  With 5+ years in bottle, the aromatics have developed beautifully, showing layered blue/black fruit, sweet spice, and wonderfully captivating earthy/meaty notes. It’s a full-bodied wine with classic Howell Mountain structure, but also beautifully focused and fresh with excellent drive and a finish that just doesn’t quit. Highly recommended while it lasts – only 110 cases made and just 9 available at these special savings.

Jeb Dunnuck: 95 Points

"Trained under the likes of Thomas Brown, John Giannini created Cresta Velia in 2010 and named it after his mother's maiden name (Cresta) & grandmothers name (Velia). The wines are made at Outpost, on Howell Mountain, and both his 2015 and 2016 releases are brilliant wines, although production is tiny. Based on 100% Cabernet Sauvignon brought up in 80% new French oak, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain from winemaker John Giannini boasts a fabulous inky color to go with loads of black and blue fruits, graphite, damp earth and spring flower/violet notes. It’s full-bodied, balanced, and elegant on the palate, with fine tannin and nothing out of place. In short, it’s a beautiful wine that will shine for 15+ years. 144 cases.”

Wine Advocate: 93 Points

“Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon gives up fragrant red and black currants notes with quite a meaty/savory undercurrent of chargrill and Marmite plus touches of incense, cedar and tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, it has a good solid frame of chewy tannins and plenty of freshness supporting the concentrated black fruits, finishing on an earthy note. Drink 2017-2033.”
