From vines at 1,700 meters near Argentina’s La Rioja (not Spain!), this does just what you hope mid-range Malbec will do. Meaning drink well by itself and stand up to grilled and roasted meat/meaty dishes, too. Blackberry and black raspberry fruit are wrapped with a dollop of dark chocolate in the midpalate before finishing with a burst of black fruit, dark cocoa powder, and fine, easygoing, tannins. Nice.
