Organic/Bio Lower ABV Valencia’s Verdil grape was once widespread but plantings plummeted through the 1980s. The grape gives wonderful fresh citrus fruit and a touch of salty minerality, but tends to oxidize easily – and brown tinges are definitely no ok in modern “clean” white wine production! Bodegas Enguera has led the effort to revive Verdil, taking advantage of nigh-picking and winery cooling to capture the grape’s freshness with no oxidization at all. The wine serves up lemon, lime and Valencia orange fruit with a touch of creaminess to the texture and a crisp, dry, lightly salty finish. A fun warm-weather sipper and happy companion for parties and all kinds of salads and seafood.
