Description of Tasting:

We’re all California on the tasting table this Friday from 3-7pm where you’ll find classics like North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay and innovative takes on Cabernet Franc and “Rhone Ranger” blends. And all represent that rarest of rarity in California wines: great value and really strong discounts!

Come by anytime from 3pm to closing to try:

Broadbent Chardonnay North Coast 2023 – One of the best sub-$20 California Chardonnays we’ve tasted this year with just the right amount of butterscotch and oak spice to balance the fresh, vibrant, pear and stone fruit core. From $10.98, a heck of a deal.

Tablas Creek Cote de Tablas Blanc 2023 - A delicious 92-94 point white Cotes du Rhone blend of 34% Viognier, 31% Marsanne, 20% Grenache Blanc, 13% Roussanne and 2% Clairette Blanche from Paso Robles.

The Language Of Yes Cuvee Sinso 2022 - Bonny Doon founder Randall Graham delivers Languedoc Cinsault character here from California's Central Coast. A delicious red you can drink with burgers or, like a rose, solo with chill.

T Berkley Cabernet Franc North Coast 2023 – We love what winemaker Taylor Berkley Boydstun does with Cabernet Franc, and love the special savings, too! Plenty ripe and with excellent texture and, as Wine Enthusiast says in the 94 point rave, “vibrant, fresh” too!

Broadbent Cabernet Sauvignon North Coast 2023 – For the past couple of years, easily the best sub-$20 California Cabernet in the shop, with plenty of dark fruit, spice and a finish big enough for steak and supple enough for solo sipping. Hard to believe you can take it home from $10.98!

And with the wines, how about a nibble of delectable Humbold Fog Brulee, Jose’s cheese pick to kick-off September!  As they say at Cypress Grove, we’ll be demonstrating your soon-to-be favorite new party trick.  Take a delicious soft cheese, like Humbolt Fog, a soft goat cheese with a ribbon of edible ash that delivers amazing, almost blue-like, flavor.  Slice off the top, dust with a little sugar and use a torch (or a really hot broiler) to turn the sugar golden brown.

Then crack through the caramel crust you’ve created and slather the sweet and salty treat on bread, crackers, whatever you like. Sweet dreams are made of sugar, fire and cheese!
