A Duo of Almost Chateauneuf Plus Bordeaux and Macon Reprise

The main focus of this week’s tastings are a stunning value Bordeaux and our duo of “almost Chateauneuf du Pape” Cotes du Rhones. And, because we sort of got rained out last weekend, we’ll also be reprising a tasting of two wines from Pouilly Fuisse master Christophe Thibert.  Join us Friday from 3-7pm and Saturday from noon-4pm to sample:

Dom Thibert Macon-Prisse En Chailloux 2020 – As Wine Advocate says in their 90 point review, “Unfurls in the glass with scents of pastry cream, crisp green apple, pear, white flowers and nutmeg. Satiny and precise, with lively aids and a bright, fine-boned profile, it's a compelling effort."

Dom Thibert Pouilly-Fuisse Heritage 2020 – A Burghound 90-93 point “Sweet Spot Outstanding” Chardonnay with plenty of ripe fruit and a savory hazelnut and stony mineral core. As Burghound writes, “This is rich but it is essentially a wine of finesse.”

Ch Castegens Cotes de Bordeaux Castillon 2018 – Better than 50% off by the case at just $9.98, this Wine Enthusiast 92 point Right Bank Bordeaux is a super-value winner! You’ll love the rich blue/black fruit and textured mouthfeel with softly supple tannins for support.

Dom Grand Veneur Cotes du Rhone Les Champauvins 2021 – Just three meters outside Chateauneuf, this gutsy Grenache red with 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre delivers big, rich, red berry fruit and classic Provençal notes of black olive and wild herb. A terrific buy from $17.98.

Ch Beaucastel Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet de Beaucastel 2020 – A stone’s through from Champauvins and on the wrong side of the A7 road from Beaucastel’s main Chateauneuf vineyard, this gives a darker, more silky, take on Rhone reds with roughly equal parts Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre plus a splash of Cinsault.
