When someone calls a wine “natural,” does that mean it’s going to smell like poop or start to fizz after a few weeks in your wine rack? What’s the difference between a wine that’s “biodynamic” vs “organic” – or, for that matter, between an “organic wine” and one that’s just from “organic grapes”? And can we please all just get some really good-tasting wine that was made without adding a bunch of pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers to the environment? You’ll answer that last question with a definitive “YES!” on Saturday, June 21, when you sample 15 terrific wines that all qualify as organic, biodynamic and/or “natural”. All were grown by small famers and winemakers who care about the health of their soils, vines and neighbors. All were made with “minimal intervention” (another term you’ll learn about!). And all were made without added yeast, deliver their natural levels of alcohol and acidity, and see minimal additions of sulfites – in some cases, none at all. And all are really delicious! Our good friends from Williams Corner Wines have worked with us to assemble the tasting line-up and will present all 15 wines while giving you a better understanding of the whole organic vs biodynamic vs natural wine thing. All while tasting a really exciting line-up of wines from France, Italy, Slovenia even from just down the road in Virginia! There’s no fee and no need to RSVP for this tastily educational festival. Just round up a crowd of natural-wine-curious friends and join us! |
