MORE Spring/Easter Wines Including Amazing Ribera del Duero

We’re diving into Spring with a passion this weekend as we showcase wines that will delight with ham, lamb, asparagus and other delicious springtime treats. Friday’s tasting includes the somehow both rich and light Bethel Heights Pinot Noir Estate 2022 for anyone who missed meeting winemaker Ben Casteel when he was here last week. And a blisteringly good Ribera del Duero from Pinea that’s one of the best of its kind we’ve tasted in years. Here’s what you’ll find open from 3-7pm this Friday:

Josef Bauer Gruner Veltliner Wagram 2023 - Anton Bauer Gruner Gmirk is gone, but Anton's cousin Joe's Wagram GV is just as delicious and a great value, too! Crisp, fresh and great with asparagus.

Fryer's Cove Chenin Blanc Cape West Coast 2024 – from right on top of the Atlanti on South Africa’s west coast, this is both densely textured and wonderfully fresh.

La Despensa Pais Boutique 2022 – Mission was the first European wine grape to succeed in the New World and these 150 year-old vines give a real taste of history. A crunchy, fresh, super delicious red.

Bethel Heights PN Estate 2022 – Outstanding Willamette Valley Pinot Noir with excellent lightness and depth/richness from one of the finest vineyards in Oregon.

17 by Pinea 2020 – Wow – who knew Ribera de Duero could be quite this good? From high-altitude vineyards the blend of richness and freshness is utterly compelling.

With the wines, a perfect before-or-after dinner cheese: Agour Ossau Iraty. From the French Pyrénées, Ossau-Iraty is believed to descend from one of the first cheeses ever made. Pasteurized sheep’s milk gives it a rich, nutty flavor with a firm yet creamy texture and notes of macadamia. An amber, mold-speckled rind gives way to a smooth, dense, ivory paste that tastes too good to resist. Bet it's great with Gmirk!
