Lower ABV Julienas is the northernmost Beaujolais Cru with high, steep, vineyards and a tendency to deliver bright red fruit and firm tannins. All that was here to start, and now a bit of bottle age has let notes of forest floor, thyme and rich earth join with the cherry/cranberry fruit. Deeply flavored and textured, this is simply a joy to drink with waves of ripe fruit and spice coming one after the other. Delicious and pretty brilliant value too.
For You If: You like a great Cote de Brouilly - this from the other end of the region, but delivers a similar blend of fruit, minerality and spice; you're after something to drink with well-seasoned grilled or roasted birds - match made in heaven!
