Yes, Buzet is an obscure appellation and it takes a pretty dedicated importer to even visit this hidden region southwest of Cahors, much less find a really good wine there. Mary Taylor has done both! This is a crunchy, earthy, complex blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grown in Buzet, made without oak and just 13.0% alcohol. You'll find dark cherry and blackcurrant fruit here with a big dose of forest floor underbrush and something savory/smoky/meaty as well. Finishes with the kind of grip that works well with steak or lamb off the grill. As The New York Times said, "a really nice red...that is earthy and chewy.
