After the smoke-impacted 2020 vintage, it's a delight to taste one of our first Willamette Valley 2021 Pinots and sigh, "Ah - the magic returns!" This is Ken Wright's blend of selected barrels from across his 13 single vineyard wines, and right now it’s as fresh and captivating as a pre-bottling barrel sample. Sweet and crunchy cranberry and cherry fruit take center stage right now with the touches of nutty oak and spice giving depth to the crisp, nicely pixilated, flavors. This will turn richer and deeper over the next year or three (or with an hour in decanter), but it would be a shame to miss it while it's in this joyful, youthful, stage.
