Organic/Bio “Giuseppe Russo makes some of the best wines on Etna. Full stop.” That’s what Monica Larner wrote in Wine Advocate a couple of years ago and it’s what I think, too. And if this just arrived new release of his Etna Rosso ‘a Rina is any indication, he’ll be at the top of the peak in vintage 2024 once again. The 17/20 point rave from the UK’s JancisRobinson.com – the only major critic to report so far – gives you a good idea of what to expect: “Palish, youthful ruby. Savoury, minerally cranberry and raspberry nose. Energetic, lithe and long and with crunchy tannins on the finish. Refreshing.” In my house, we go through nearly 2 cases of this each year. So a six-pack for the great savings is NOT a reach!
For You If: You like the elegance and drinkability of Burgundy Pinot Noir, the fine tannins of high-altitude Nebbiolo and the flavor intensity and iron-ore minerality of Brunello, all in one gorgeous wine!
