Organic/Bio Lower ABV No way you try this blind and guess it sells for <$20. Because it shouldn’t and only does because importer Lia Banville-Tolaini owns the vineyard and winery and uses it to craft this “door opening” Chianti value. It’s 90% Sangiovese (tank) and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon (aged in oak) all organically farmed and all from Chianti Classico’s famous Castelnuovo Berardenga region.
Complex aromas of macerated black cherries, saddle leather, and wild herbs really jump from the glass. There's a lot of black and Bing cherry fruit, but you certainly wouldn't call this "fruity"! Because complex notes of Mediterranean herbs, warm stones, and new leather flow around and through the fruit. And as Suckling.com says in the 91 point praise, the flavors are “framed by fine, lightly firm tannins that provide backbone and balance.” It’s a great pizza/pasta/burger/casserole wine already, will turn into something more special still over the next few years, and is ready to serve at a party with cheese and nibbles. You're the only one who needs to know you got your Chianti Classic-quality red for such a low price!
For You If: You need a great all-purpose pizza/pasta/burger red; you like Chianti but want a value to drink tonight vs cellar for a while; a pinch of acidity and chew of tannin that melt away like the cheese on your lasagna sound good.
