Ever done something that made no sense and had it work out beautifully? Apparently, that's what happened to Maude Autran who took ripe Rhone red Grenache and made it into white wine! This "illegal" blend - declassified to Vin de France - is crazy delicious. Redolent of ripe stone fruit, white strawberry and mid-summer honeysuckle, it’s full in feel and still tightly structured with real grip and shape. Dangerously drinkable solo it’s going to go great with anything from crispy chicken to opulent Asian fare.
For You If: You enjoy the aromas and flavors of Viognier but dialed back a bit and balanced with some chalky/grippy structure; you enjoy wines with lots of body but no oiliness or excess weight.
