Organic/Bio This luscious, complex, bold white comes from the family’s oldest vines, mostly planted in 1921. A classic blend of 50% Grenache Blanc, 25% Clairette, 20% Roussanne and 5% Bourboulenc ferment and age 15 months in mostly large, old, oak. Even in a cooler vintage, it’s a wine if immense presence and depth, with a core of peach fruit and then layer upon layer of white flower, wild herb, sweet spice and lemon zest complexity.
The Vinous 92 point review captures it well: “Unwinds with intense lemongrass, honeysuckle, white peach and a splash of herbal tea. Full-bodied, round and concentrated, the 2024 is an open-knit, bold take on the appellation, flawlessly balanced by fresh acidity. It finishes long and rounded.” It’s the opposite of “light” white wine for sure, but even with all the density and texture it stays fresh and flowing with just enough bite on the end too retain freshness and drinkability. Pretty brilliant match for lobster rolls, seared wild mushrooms, creamy cheeses and simple grilled fish.
For You If: You’re in the mood for a white that has a lot of body and creamy texture with big flavors of fruit and flowers and no noticeable oak notes; you want a rich wine to savor and pair with rich food that remains dry and highly drinkable.
