Organic/Bio Exactly what you’d hope to find in a bottle of Medoc: a complex woodsy/spicy flavor profile, the structure and intensity to stand up beautifully with hearty meat dishes, all at a fraction of the price of a Grand Cru Classe Bordeaux. This one is coming in hot with a little bottle age already, making it open and delicious to drink now or over the next 2 to 3 years.
Emmanuel and Manal Martin took over the Chateau La Gorce, an estate in the cool Northern Medoc on Bordeaux’s Left Bank dating back to 1821, in 2018 and immediately got to work on the ambitious project of converting it’s entire 48-hectare sprawl to organic farming. Their hard work to reorient the estate so quickly toward quality wine production has paid off in spades, as evidenced by this wine, a blend of 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon that serves up fragrant cherry and cassis, plus flavors of clove, tobacco and turned earth.
For You If: You like classic, old-school Bordeaux; you want a wine with just a little bit of age that’s drinking beautifully right now; you’re grilling tonight!
