Dead classic Chateauneuf-du-Pape, including all 13 legal varietals and aged in big, old, casks. Plenty of flesh, body and fruit matched by a big dollop of olive/herbal garrigue and a fine-grained finish. As Vinous says, “opens in the glass with ripe raspberry, black cherry, cassis and cedar. Scheduled to age in large foudres for two years, ripe tannins offer the wine a good structure and framework. Finishing on a savory note, the 2022 looks quite promising.” Great choice to drink with lamb, stews, and anything slathered in garlic.
For You If: You enjoy old-school Chateauneuf du Pape that pumps plenty of garrigue and pepper to go with the dark, rich, fruit; you’re grilling lamb covered in herbs – not possible to find a better pairing!
