Spotlight on Super-Tuscans from Benedetto Baracchi

I say Tuscan wine, and you probably think, "Sangiovese." But in Cortona, they do Tuscany differently. And you can taste for yourself when you join winemaker Benedetto Baracchi and taste his super-Tuscan white and reds! Five wines, great conversation, all for free. Just RSVP for a great evening.

The “Super Tuscan” moniker is pretty over-used – truth be told, not every non-traditional Tuscan blend is all that super.  But Benedetto Baracchi with his dad, Riccardo, have created something special here in the shadow of their 17th century manor house that now also serves as a Relais & Châteaux luxury resort. 

Cortona has made its name with non-traditional Tuscan blends and Benedetto will be sharing four of those and one delicious, pure, Sangiovese. The line-up:

Baracchi Toscana Bianco O’Lilla 2024 (80% Chardonnay/20% Viognier)
Baracchi Toscana Rosso O’Lillo 2024 (25% each Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Sangiovese)
Baracchi Sangiovese Smeriglio 2019 (100% Sangiovese)
Baracchi Sangiovese Brut Rose 2019 (Sangiovese bubbles!)
Baracchi Ardito 2019 (50% each Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah)

The Baracchi family have been growing vines in Cortona since 1860, making Benadetto a 5th generation winegrower. You'll taste that heritage in each wine and see it in his passion for the land.
