|Description of Tasting:
A different set of wines Saturday as Matt Perrella takes the tasting table with selections from Dionysos Imports. As you might guess from the name, Dionysos is the region’s foremost importer of Greek wines and Matt will have a couple of terrific ones for you to try. And they have an excellent selection of wines from Spain (including one of this week’s featured wines) and France. Join Matt to try:
Dom du Dragon Rose Cotes de Provence Grande Cuvee 2022 – With a bit of time in bottle, this is turning into a lovely winter-style rosé with the fruit a little more quiet and the savory, stony, elements more forward. Great value, too.
Gavalas Assyrtiko Santorini 2022 – The crisp, dry, lightly salty Santorini white in the bright blue bottle is still the standard-bearer for Greek whites to pair up with seafood and anything fried and/or salty.
Piratas del Ebro Rioja Alavesa Chatxo 2020 – All Tempranillo from Rioja Alavesa that’s bursting with ripe red fruit and has a velvety texture with no oak to get in the way of immediate enjoyment.
Skouras Saint George Agiorgitiko Nemia 2021 - Whether you call it Agiorgitiko or Saint George, the most important grape of the Peloponnese gives wines with plenty of color, generous plmmy fruit and a nicely firm structure perfect for enjoying with anything off the grill.
Clos du Mont-Olivet - Lirac Rouge 2021 – Old-school Lirac with 65% Grenache fortified with big dollops of Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault. The dark fruit and earthy complexity pair perfectly with Lirac’s silky texture.
We’ll have some treats from the cheese case out to enjoy with the wines and best six/12 bottle savings available on a mix/match basis during the tasting. Come on over and try something new!
